No date, possibly Victorian [Hymns Ancient and Modern was published by William Clowes & Sons Limited - in 1880, Clowes and Clowes merged with William Clowes & Sons to form William Clowes Ltd]. The two volumes bound as one, 688 and 861 pages (1549 pages in total, thickness approximately 1 1/8"), black and white photographic frontispieces to both volumes. Fully bound in black leather, with gilt lettering to spine and upper boards, marbled endpapers, gilt tooling around front and rear endpapers, silken bookmarker, rounded corners to boards and pages, all edges gilt. A little rubbing at head of spine, pages 49 - 56 of Hymns Ancient and Modern have been folded over at the corner, resulting in them being imperfectly guillotined, light foxing to endpapers, otherwise a very good copy of this miniature book.
