16mo., some light and unobtrusive age-browning; most attractively bound in black full grained calf, sides with triple Oxford frame in gilt, back with five flat bands tooled and ruled in gilt, second compartment lettered in gilt, all other compartments tooled in gilt with an arabesque, all edges gilt, doublures ruled in gilt, chocolate endpapers, covers very lightly age-scuffed else a remarkably bright, clean copy. Reeves was a Patentee of the Office of King's Printer. The Psalter is separately titled; both Prayers and Psalter are unpaginated. The text is occasionally cropped close at top but always without loss. THIS COPY WAS FORMERLY IN THE LIBRARY OF LADY SOPHIA TOWER (NEE CUST/BROWNLOW) AND BEARS HER HOLOGRAPH MAIDEN SIGNATURE ON BLANK PRELIMINARY RECTO, AND THE FINE MID-NINETEENTH CENTURY ENGRAVED ARMORIAL BOOKPLATE OF CHRISTOPHER & LADY SOPHIA TOWER ON FRONT PASTE-DOWN. Lady Tower was born Sophia Cust/Brownlow on 14 April 1811, the daughter of John Cust, 1st Earl Brownlow and Sophia Hume. She married Christopher Theron Tower on 10 February 1836. Lady Tower died on 21 December 1882 at the age of 71. A CHARMING EXAMPLE OF NNETEENTH CENTURY PERSONAL COMMON PRAYER WITH BOTH MAIDEN AND MARRIED OWNERSHIP MARKS.
