Two pocket sized, uniformly bound works, being the Book of Common Prayer and a selection of Hymns The Book of Common Prayer also contains the Psalter or Psalms of David. With the calendar with the table of lessons to the book of Common Prayer. The Book of Common Prayer is a number of related prayer books used in the Anglican Communion. The original book was published in 1549 during the reign of Edward VI and a product of the English reformation following the break with Rome. The book of hymns contain over 600 hymns categorized by the occasion or Biblical figure they refer to. For example, some of the categories are Holy Matrimony, St Mark the Evangelist, Confirmation, Advent and Christmas. In limp straight grain morocco bindings. Externally, smart with small amount of bumping and rubbing to the extremities as well as to the head and tail of spines. Gift inscription to the front pastedown addressed to one Maria Beal, dated 1915.Prior owner's inscription to endpapers. Tape repairs to both volumes, more to the Book of Common Prayer. Front hinge is strained but firm after page 28 to the book of common prayer. Internally, binding to both volumes is strained but firm. Pages are generally bright, with occasional light spots. Good.
