Full cream morocco leather with coloured decoration to the front board with a crest, gilt crown, black deer and two scrolls with Pro * Servitio * Non * Me * Ipso to one and Starlight Shall Come Again in gilt to the banner. Stars and Hearts to the spine, rear board and inner leather turn-ins. The initials T H to the rear paste down leather turn-in in blind. A quite sophisticated binding with gilt decoration to the boards and inner dentelles in very well preserved condition, house in a cloth covered clamshell box with gilt titles and the heart and star decoration to the spine and front board. Pagination: xxxvi, 699pp. Provenance: inscription for Stanely Service 1951, Dougals William Service 1958, Alastair Service 1976, to the front end paper. Approximately 5 ¾ inches tall (14.5cm). Condition Report Externally Spine very good condition gilt titles, some rubbing and marks, seven raised bands, red heart and black star decoration to the compartments. Joints very good condition gently rubbed. Corners very good condition rounded. Boards good condition full leather, minor marks and scratches, elaborately decorated and coloured to the front board, red heart and black star decoration to the rear board. Page edges good condition all gilt. See above and photos. Internally Hinges very good condition sound. Paste downs very good condition tanned, inner gilt dentelles with red heart and black star decoration to the turn-ins. End papers good condition tanned, inscriptions. Title good condition tanned.
