A handsome mid-Victorian Oxford "Nonpareil" pocket Book of Common Prayer in blind-stamped full calf with brass clasp and fittings. In a pleasing full calf binding with blind stamping, with brass fittings and clasp.The Book of Common Prayer; and Administration of the Sacraments, and other Rites and Ceremonies of the Church, according to the Use of the United Church of England and Ireland; together with the Proper Lessons for Sundays and other Holy-Days, and the New Version of the Psalms of David.This is a mid-Victorian Oxford "Nonpareil" pocket Prayer Book, part of the Oxford University Press's devotional series. These were intended for daily personal use rather than the lectern or parish altar. In a full calf binding with brass fittings and clasp.Externally, very smart. Clasp fully functional. Slight rubbing and bumping to extremities resulting in slight loss to calf and slight tarnishing to brass. Spine slightly creased. Previous owner's contemporary ink inscription to front free endpaper. Slight rubbing to boards. The odd minor handling mark to endpapers. Rear hinge slightly cracked, but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with the odd light spot to first and last few leaves. Very Good Indeed.…
