IRISH BINDING. The Book of Common Prayer, [.] Together with the Psalter or Psalms of David, Oxford: John Baskett, Printer to the University, 1737, [bound with] The Whole Book of Psalms, London: Printed for the Company of Stationers, 1736. (first work not in ESTC) Double black-ruled titles, text in double column; lightly age toned, 12mo, 13 x 7cm, un-paginated but complete. Contemporary vellum, elaborate gilt tooling with repeating sun motif, stars, florets, acorns etc, edges quadruple gilt ruled with an inner roll of alternating fleurs de Lys and Shamrock. With an onlaid, gilt tooled central diamond shaped morocco lozenge. Slightly soiled and shaken, with some loss of gilt to front board and spine, still an attractive copy of an extremely uncommon Vellum, central lozenge binding which is almost certainly Irish. Irish, vellum bound, central lozenge bindings are extremely scarce. Housed in a protective box.
