First of the RALSTON HEALTH CLUB edition, 1904. 597 pages, expanded from the 1895 edition. Large, handsome original brown cloth, with dramatic gilt lettering on the spine. Very good. The text begins with Shaftesbury's famous "Anti-Death" philosophy. 44 "Special (Natural) Treatments" for the fundamental conditions of human ill-health. Published for (paying) members of the Ralston Health Club. Webster Edgerly, aka Edmund Shaftesbury and "Dr Ralston", founded a series of clubs and companies that promoted the idea that with proper regimes and control of body, mind and spirit - one could advance health and extend life almost indefinitely through the graduated practices he outlined in his books.
