Fascinated by 'antiquarian books' and rare books, Dean Fetzer was researching works by famous scientists, philosophers and artists where he came across the work of Giordano Bruno. Once a Dominican friar, Bruno was burned at the stake in Rome as a heretic - a fate avoided by his contemporaries Copernicus and Gallileo. Amongst his writings are several "lost" manuscripts, some of which no doubt led to his execution. His theories went beyond Copernicus' model, suggesting the universe contained an infinite number of inhabited worlds populated by other intelligent beings.

Having been allowed to examine several of Bruno's printed books in the British Library, combined with a lifetime of puzzle solving and videogame playing (don't mention classics like Asteroids or Tempest), Book of the Dead was the culmination of a number of Dean's interests.
