He also helped produce the world's first underwater photographs in 1926, and edited all versions of the National Geographic's The Book of Fishes. Jacques-Yves Cousteau, AC (1910 - 1997), was a French naval officer, explorer, conservationist, filmmaker, innovator, scientist, photographer, author and researcher who studied the sea and all forms of life in water.
