The author discusses the history of masonry, and into the actual building of the lodges, such as the foundation stone, the decorations, the name, and the ritual of the work in the lodges. Illustrated with a frontispiece, and twelve plates. Revised by Reverend George Oliver, the author of 'The History of Initiation' and 'Star in the East'. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto to the front endpaper, 'Brother Edgar Goble, J.P.M. Lodge of Harmony 309, With fraternal regards, from A. Arthur Headley S.W., Fareham, January 17. 1880'. With twenty pages of publisher's adverts to the rear. Lodge of Harmony library label to the tail of the spine. In the original cloth binding. Externally, smart. Some light marks to the boards. Lodge of Harmony library label to the tail of the spine. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Light spots to the fore edge. Hinges are starting but firm. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto to the front endpaper. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with the odd spot. Very Good.
