Print on Demand. This book details the rebuilding of Jerusalem's walls under the leadership of Nehemiah, a high-ranking Jewish official serving in the Persian court. After receiving permission from King Artaxerxes, Nehemiah returns to Jerusalem to find the city in ruins and the people demoralized. Despite opposition from local enemies, Nehemiah rallies the Jewish community and successfully rebuilds the city's defenses. This meticulously researched book provides a rich tapestry of history, piety, and leadership against a backdrop of ancient Persia and the remnants of Israel's return from exile. By closely examining the biblical text, the author uncovers the complexities of Nehemiah's character and leadership, and explores the broader context of Second Temple Judaism. The book's insights into the human condition and the power of faith make it an invaluable resource for anyone interested in the history of Jerusalem, the Jewish people, or the enduring significance of Nehemiah's legacy. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
