The Book of Rhododendrons

Kneller (artist-in-residence at Exbury Gardens in the UK) spent 15 years meticulously documenting rhododendrons with her botanical paintings. Each of the full-page paintings in this oversized book (10x14") illustrates the eight-month growing cycle and includes the flowering branch, bud, flower division and profile, new leaf growth and seedhead. Text from 50 of the world's rhododendron experts accompanies each botanical painting, providing details of the plant's discovery in the wild, aspects which make it particularly appealing or garden-worthy, and some personal and cultivation notes. Also included are leaf and flower drawings of sub-genera, a full species list, and a list of the world's greatest rhododendron gardens. Annotation copyright Book News, Inc. Portland, Or.
