Discover nature-inspired design that transforms ordinary objects into beautiful, useful art. This book, A Book of Studies in Plant Form and Design, shows how studying leaves, flowers, and growth habits can guide every decorative choice you make.
Written for designers, crafters, and students, it explains clear principles—gradations, symmetry, repetition, and unity—that make ornament both interesting and easy to read. It also connects plant imagery to practical work in embroidery, textiles, wallpapers, and tiles, offering approachable guidance you can apply to real projects.
- Learn how to balance variety and order so patterns stay engaging without confusing the eye.
- See how natural forms translate into decorative lines, shapes, and color schemes.
- Explore embroidery and textile techniques with practical tips on materials and color harmony.
- Find design ideas for tiles, wallpapers, and other decorative surfaces rooted in nature.
Ideal for readers of design, crafts, and decorative arts who want to fuse natural observation with practical making.
