An uncommon copy of this delightfully illustrated botanical study of a range of trees. Third edition. Uncommon. In the publisher's original green cloth binding. Charmingly illustrated throughout, including with a frontispiece. An insightful glimpse into the natural history of a range of trees, resourcefully organised by tribe. With introductory chapters on the "Internal Structure of Vegetables", "Architecture of Trees", "Adaptation of Plants to Climate" and "The Seeds of Plants". As commissioned by the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge. In the publisher's original green cloth binding. Externally, very smart with minor bumping and rubbing and a few marks to boards. Internally, firmly bound, with a very slight chip to the front free endpaper. A bright and clean copy with the odd spot, heavier to the first and last few pages. Very Good.
