The Wizard is back, and he’s conjured a follow-up to the wildly successful Book of Wizard Crafts and Book of Wizard Parties. Keep the wizardry going by learning more of his hints for show-stopping sleights of hand. Show off with The Card that Changes its Spots; do levitations and transfigurations; wear “the cloak of mystery”; and more.

Reviews
Grade 3-6-Marvelous magic tricks, mystifying illusions, and astonishing tales abound in this collection, along with enough how-to instructions to turn any child into a performer. The tongue-in-cheek narration is delivered by a 600-year-old wizard with lots of historical and practical insight into the world of magic. He begins by relating tidbits of information that can be used as patter and follows it with the basics-how to make a magic wand, a stage table, hats, cloaks, robes, top hats, and more with complete supply lists and easy-to-follow instructions. In addition to the more than 60 tricks and illusions revealed here, the authors discuss timing, correct props, settings, misdirection, and audience appreciation, and admonish readers to practice, practice, practice. They are very clear on the point that magic is a physical art and does not involve the supernatural. Burnett's fanciful animals as well as her concise diagrams against pastel backgrounds have an air of magic about them. Budding wizards, browsers, and, of course, fans of Harry Potter will find much to enjoy here.
