About this Item
A marvellous pop-up book with a number of colour illustrations as well as five pop ups. The Bookano Stories began publication towards the end of the 1920s, and were the first 'automatic' books. Sixteen annuals were produced between 1929 and 1949, with the title stemming from merging the words 'book' and 'Meccano'. Created by S. Louis Giraud. This edition contains five complete and functioning pop-ups, as well as one lacking. Collated.Illustrated in full colour, with classic stories such as 'Swan Lake' and 'As You Like It'.A charming and early example of a pop-up work. In the publisher's original paper covered boards. Externally generally smart, with some bumping to extremities and rubbing to the spine resulting in loss to the paper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. One pop up is sadly lacking. Good. Seller Inventory # 765R18
