Add to basketOblong photo album measuring 13 1/2 x 10 inches (340 x 255 mm), 12 leaves containing 8 photos each, for a total of 96 photos, title to front cover written in pencil, metal comb binding. This album shows 96 color snapshots of Anthony Cina of South Jersey Bindery, Thorofare, New Jersey, binding a book at the bindery of Richard H. Barnes in Philadelphia. Each snapshot appears within a window measuring 4 1/4 x 2 7/8 inches (103 x 73 mm). The snapshots are neatly and firmly attached. Complete; none missing. According to a handwritten note on the verso of the front cover, Philadelphia bookbinder Richard H. Barnes took the photos at his Philadelphia shop, 2341 Germantown Avenue. The note also states that the photos are from "circa 1960." We have not been able to find much information about Anthony Cina. However, a 1966 newspaper article states: "Anthony Cina, leather craftsman and bookbinder of Thorofare, will give a demonstration on 'bookbinding and engraving' to graphics arts teachers" during the 48th annual convention of the New Jersey Vocational and Arts Education Association, April 1 and 2, 1966, at a hotel in Asbury Park. [The Daily Record, Long Branch, New Jersey, March 26, 1966, page 5.] As for Richard Barnes, the Philadelphia binder published a book in 1962, "Gilding and Making of Gold Leaf." An interesting look at bookbinding featuring step-by-step photos of the binding process. Complete, with no photos missing or damaged. CONDITION: Some soiling and rubbing to the covers, slight toning to page edges. Very Good overall.
