Boost Creative Writing for 5-7 Year Olds: Planning Sheets to Support Writers (Especially SEN Pupils) in Years 1-2

The adaptable writing scaffolds and structured planning sheets in Boost Creative Writing Years 1–2 will boost children’s writing skills and give them the confidence they can write.

The adaptable writing scaffolds and structured planning sheets in Boost Creative Writing Years 1–2 encourage children to talk about their writing, giving them the confidence to put their ideas down on paper.

While aimed at lower ability and unconfident writers, they can be used with all children.

A range of writing genres from stories and poems to book reviews and newspaper reports is covered.

The sheets have been extensively trialled and tested by the author, Judith Thornby, an experienced Learning Support Coordinator.

They have been shown to boost children’s writing skills, give pupils confidence and make them believe that they can write.

Judith Arden (formerly Thornby) is an experienced former Primary Teacher and specialist in learning support. She has taught pupils with a range of abilities for over 25 years, gaining a Diploma in Specificc Learning Difficulties in 1999. Being enthusiastic about promoting literacy skills, she has written the 'Boost Creative Writing Skills' series as well as 'Boost Spelling Skills' for KS1 and older pupils who struggle with spelling.
