A reformer and abolitionist, his words and popular quotations would later inspire speeches by Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King, Jr. He was a bit unorthodox and his supporters organized the 28th Congregational Society of Boston in December and installed Parker as its minister in January 1846.
