AI Bots in Applied Linguistics: Practice, Policy, and Creativity (Paperback)

Paperback. Artificial intelligence (AI) has had a transformative impact on society, reshaping how individuals and institutions interact with and use technology. Entire sectors have been compelled to adapt to these developments, and applied linguistics is no exception. In recent years, AI and, more specifically, the AI Bots have altered how languages are taught, learned, assessed, and translated. Thus, as AI becomes pervasive within this linguistic practice, there is a growing need for critical, research-informed inquiry that examines the role AI plays in applied linguistics and proposes ethical and sustainable pathways for its integration. AI Bots in Applied Linguistics: Practice, Policy, and Creativity discusses some aspects of the global policy frameworks on the utilization of AI in education, and it empowers language teachers to apply this technology based on research-informed practices. Covering topics such as AI-Assisted Language Learning (AI-ALL), AI-ALL Task Design, learner engagement, corrective feedback, creative writing and AI translation of sociocultural discourse, among others, this book is an academic resource for doctoral students, educational practitioners, policymakers and curriculum developers.
