I have been in the ministry since 1986. Many times I have been supernaturally led to a classic work of a man of God, and "Power for Prayer" was one of those works. . This led me to his other books on prayer. This devotional is a compilation of several of four of his books in daily, bite-size format. I purposefully have not edited any of his material, but left it in its original format.I read it daily, but unlike other books, I could only read smaller excerpts at a time because of the depth of his revelations. You literally have to stop and say, “Selah.” I eventually sensed the call to compile a devotional in this same format, that others could simply do the same. Many readers will be not be able to stop at the current date’s page, but will be compelled to keep reading. I did this on purpose, because, that’s the way I read it. Read a little and meditate it. While serving as chaplain during the Civil War, he was captured and held prisoner in Nashville, TN. After his release, he held several pastorates. His books on prayer have been continual best-sellers for over 100 years. He was a man who lived ever on prayer ground. He walked and talked with the Lord. Prayer was the great weapon in his arsenal, his pathway to the Throne of Grace.
