This VG book is square, clean, with a lightly bumped lower front corner and mildly bumped head and heel of the spine, all without fabric damage. The front panel is beautifully undamaged: the rear board, however, has splotches of fading (or perhaps bleaching)--the fabric is not damaged, merely odd. The FFEP has an inked inscription; there are numerous--perhaps 50--pages with stains both in the margins and in the text; they look like food-type stains and are a flaw, but they do not interfere with reading the text; other than that, the interior is clean--it is free of writing, stray marks, and any sort of paper damage. The first format jacket lists through the 1918 titles of his series. It has front flap wear (but not tear), chips at the base of the spine, small chips at the head of the spine and the top of the rear panel, and a 1/2" closed tear at the top of the front panel (see photo). And on the spine, the subtitle ("On the Somme") is faded and all but impossible to read. Seller Inventory # BMR-2019-7-4-7
