"A Boy and His Hat" is a story about that one certain thing that distinguishes a little boy from every other little boy - his favorite ball hat. Life is great with that hat, until one day the hat comes up missing. The world is not the same, the search is on, can "the hat" be found? Will "the hat" be found, and will this young life always be about "the hat"? Enjoy the adventure of a little boy and that certain thing that makes life great!
There are certain things in a boy's life that just have to be.
Many times it begins in a little boy's crib or baby bed. It may be a pillow or a blanket. It becomes something that the little boy won't put down. He carries it every where he goes, it becomes a part of him, you can see the little boy, you see the pillow. There are certain things in a boy's life that just have to be.
When a little boy get's big enough for a big boy bed, some things in his life change.
But there are still certain things that just have to be. It may no longer be a pillow or blanket. Now it may be a dump truck, or even a hand made super powered "Pawpaw" special Bow and Arrow!
With this bow and arrow the back yard is forever protected from any bear that would dare and try to enter this guarded territory.
And now, only a few years after carrying a pillow or a blanket every where he would go, this little boy is the guard on duty committed to keeping his family's home safe from wild and dangerous animals. You see the boy, you see the bow. Because there are certain things in a boy's life that just have to be.
It may be that one day the boy is seen without his bow. Then another day goes by with no bow. Somehow the bow turns up weeks later, found in the back of the closet or behind some things stacked up in the garage. Either way, it seems strange to see the boy without the bow that ran off so many bear.
And then as time goes by, and little boys grow out of that little boy time, some things change. But then again there are certain things that never change. Because there are still certain things that just have to be.
Summer time means baseball. And little boys love baseball. Playing baseball isn't complete without the one thing that makes the uniform, and identifies the team. That one thing, is the baseball hat.
And as there are certain things that just have to be, so little boys have to wear their baseball hats.
Not just at practice or for the big game, but always.
They may not be able to wear their uniform everywhere, but they can certainly wear their hat. The grocery store, the super discount store, the neighborhood. A little boy can even wear his hat to church! Well, to Sunday night and Wednesday night church.
There are even times, most times, when that boy will get out of the bath tub or shower, and after drying off, put that hat right back on his head.
You see the boy, you see the hat. Before long mom and dad are wondering if it has permanently attached itself to their son's head.
