The Boy Who Was Fire

The Boy Who Was Fire is a simple bedtime story that is told in a way that is meaningful and encouraging without being patronizing.

It's about a Fire that is born to a Tree and a Bolt of Lightning. He soon becomes too restless and hungry to stay with his mother, so he runs away, consuming everything in his path. The Forests and the Towns become afraid because of the destruction left behind him, so he hides. And in his hiding place he grows until he is so big and bright that he can no longer be hidden. He leaves his hiding place and finds a home in a lonely House that can see that in all the places he'd been, where once there was only ash, there were now green gardens growing.

Marcus Kahle McCann's story has a richness and depth that inspires both the imagination and the intellect. And Zita Varga's sophisticated and elegant llustration elevate the reading experience for any reader regardless of age.

Kahle is an award-winning playwright and lyricist and is part of the Mildly Fearsome Films, a production company based in Los Angeles where he lives with his wife, Becky. Kahle firmly believes that if Writers write at the top of their intelligence, Readers will read at the top of theirs and that if they read or hear enough stories that are "over their heads," it won't be long before they have taller heads... not literally... Kahle does NOT promote the idea that literacy leads to weird cranial mutations.
