In 1809, the Boyd entered Whangaroa Harbour and never left.

What followed would become one of the most recorded and most misunderstood encounters in New Zealand's early history. Told through fragments of official reports, oral traditions, and the silence between them. This story moves beyond the event itself and into what may have been lost, buried, or deliberately left behind.

Generations later, the past does not rest quietly. Clues remain scattered across land, water, and memory. In places where history is certain, and in places where it begins to fade.
