Brain Death : A Reappraisal

This text is intended to provide an overview of brain death. The topics explored in this book are the concept and historical approach of human death, clinical examinations of brain-dead patients, ancillary tests in coma and brain death, bioethical discussions of brain death and its relationship with some consciousness disturbances, and the legal considerations of human death.

From the reviews:

"This is a single author monograph describing recent work culminating in the contemporary approach to diagnosis of brain death. ... Neurologists, neurosurgeons, intensivists, and transplanters are an appropriate audience for this work ... . Black-and-white line drawings are done well and a selection of good color plates is grouped together. ... This book smoothly sheds light on the biology and controversy surrounding an important clinical topic. ... is attractive for its historical scope coupled with clinical clarity." (David J. Dries, Doody’s Review Service, July, 2008)
