Breakfast at Tiffany s. Hollywood: Paramount Pictures, 1961. Original merchandising manual and press book for the 1961 film. Audrey Hepburn; George Peppard; Patricia Neal (starring); Blake Edwards (director); Truman Capote (novel); Henry Mancini (music); Robert McGinnis (illustration) Film based on Truman Capote s 1958 novella set in New York, featuring the captivating heroine, Holly Golightly, a country girl from Texas who fashions herself into a glamorous New York playgirl. This film established Audrey Hepburn as one of the greatest and most stylish movie stars of all time. Front cover illustration by Robert McGinnis. This famous image shows a slightly stylized Hepburn with her hair tied up in a high chignon, wearing the iconic Givenchy little black dress, holding a cat over her shoulder, and a two-foot-long cigarette holder in the corner of her mouth. The presence of the cat in McGinnis illustration was expressly requested by Paramount, in an effort to increase Audrey s Holly whimsical kookiness, blunting the edges off Capote s Holly. Richly illustrated, and full of fascinating details regarding promotions, tie-ins, and events. One promotion called Cat on a Leash suggests the following idea: Hire a girl elegantly dressed in a long, black evening gown to walk around town with a beautiful cat on a rhinestone-studded leash (if one available), and wearing a rhinestone collar. Girl could distribute heralds. Merchandising manual - 14 pp, saddle stitched, b/w illus and photos, 12.25 x 14.75 inches. Slightly edge-worn and lightly soiled. Very Good. Pressbook - 7 pp, saddle stitched, b/w illus and photos, 12.25 x 14.75 inches. Lightly creased. Very Good. Seller Inventory # CRB39
