Kirby I. Bland, M.D., is Professor Emeritus and Chair Emeritus in the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Department of Surgery. An internationally recognized leader in surgical oncology, Dr. Bland has made significant contributions to breast cancer research, translational science, and surgical education. He has served as principal investigator and program leader for multiple National Cancer Institute Specialized Programs of Research Excellence (SPORE) grants, with research focused on targeted therapies and chemoprevention for breast cancer and melanoma.
