About the Author
Charles W. Bamforth, Distinguished Professor Emeritus, University of California, Davis, USA
Charles W. Bamforth, PhD, DSc, FCIBD, FIBiol, FIAFoST is Distinguished Professor Emeritus
at the University of California, Davis and Honorary Professor at the University of Nottingham, England. He has held positions as director of research for Brewing Research International and as research and quality assurance manager for Bass Breweries in the UK. In 1999 he became the first Anheuser-Busch Endowed Professor of Malting and Brewing Sciences at UC Davis. He is formerly Senior Quality Adviser for the Sierra Nevada Brewing Company and a Past President of the Chartered Institute of Brewers and Distillers (CIBD). He is the author of numerous books and papers as well as being a past editor-in-chief of the Journal of the American Society of Brewing Chemists. He received the Award of Distinction of the American Society of Brewing Chemists in 2011. In 2018, he received the Recognition Award from the Brewers Association and was awarded the Horace Brown Medal by the CIBD.
