The Bridge (DCI Cooper)

The deeper the water, the darker the secrets.

What should have been a regular mission to a remote wind farm in the North Sea turns deadly when the crew of the Electron stumbles upon a gruesome murder. The captain is dead, his first mate barely clinging to life. DCI Erica Cooper is called to investigate, but the vessel’s isolated location and history of buried secrets make this case far from routine.

As Cooper digs deeper, she uncovers a chilling link between the deaths onboard and a tragic accident from two years ago—a protest that ended with the death of a young environmental activist. The crew may hold the key to solving the mystery, but someone onboard is willing to go to any lengths to keep the truth submerged.

With tensions rising with the tide, Cooper must not only navigate the dangers onboard but also confront problems at home. Can she truly balance life as a detective with being a mother of two? Or are some sacrifices inevitable? Because it’s not just the crew hiding secrets—Cooper has some of her own.

Now, she must race against time to expose the killer before they strike again. But in the end, the truth might sink them all.

The Bridge is the eighth instalment in Baskerville’s gritty DCI Cooper series. Her novels explore the complexities of justice, morality, and personal sacrifice.
