Synopsis
“Bridging The Racial Divide With The Cross Of Christ” by Chaplain Maceo Gray, Th.M is the perfect book for Racial Reconciliation. To say that this is a pivotal time in our country and the world is the understatement of the century. The lingering scars of racism have once again shown that racism and prejudice are problems that cannot and will not be totally solved only through government intervention but must also be addressed individually, on a personal level, and sometimes systemically. Fortunately, we have biblical Truths to follow to achieve this goal. The book brings to life both biblical and historical truths of the racial divide, beginning with the origin of sin and broken relationships in the Garden of Eden to where we are today as a nation. “Bridging the Racial Divide with the Cross of Christ” shines a light on the racial divide in our country, from Slavery, through Segregation, to the present era that Chaplain Gray has branded as Subordination. The book biblically shows that racial prejudice is a sin and the sin is pride. The sin is against God rather than man as all sin is and requires God’s forgiveness and transformation. The book shows how Christians can be set free from this sin by the transforming power of the Holy Spirit, enabling them to repent with changed minds confirmed by the transformation of loving all people.
“Bridging the Racial Divide With The Cross Of Christ” debunks racial myths with Scriptures and highlights biblical Truths. Chaplain Gray tells of his own families’ ancestral experiences from Slavery through Segregation and his personal experiences of growing up in the south during the Modern Civil Rights movements, which produced challenges and changes. He also covers the challenges and blessings of being the first Black engineer hired in 1963 in the Engineering Division of the Bendix Corporation in Kansas City, MO. He retired after 30 years as Engineering Program Manager to yield to God's call for full-time ministry. In preparation for full-time ministry, he and his late wife, Annie P. Gray graduated together in May 1998 from Dallas Theological Seminary. He received the Master of Theology degree with honors and she received the Master's degree in Cross Cultural Ministries with high honors. For the past 26 years, Chaplain Gray has served as a chaplain and held several management positions from Division Director to Midwest Region VP with Marketplace Ministries. In tracking the historical perspective of the racial divide, Chaplain Gray has researched and loaded the book with over 140 full-color copies of pictures and official documents to illustrate and authenticate the insightful historical Timeline. The 8 by 10 full-color book includes 331 pages. The racial divide Timeline shows progress has been made and provides hope through Jesus Christ for complete Racial Reconciliation. It acknowledges that although slow, our nation has progressed toward Racial Reconciliation; however, recently, we have taken some backward steps. Metaphorically, smoke from these backward steps has tripped the alarm for believers in the Lord Jesus Christ to cry out to God for His intervention. The appeal is for Him to heal our nation by intervening and putting out the smoldering fire of racial unrest in our country before it goes viral. Christians are shown how they can be effective in Racial Reconciliation with genuine love and respect for everyone through the transforming power of the Holy Spirit. Chaplain Gray shares the love and acceptance his family received from an all-white Southern Baptist church in the early '70s when they began attending and subsequently joined. The gospel of Jesus Christ is presented throughout the book for non-Christian readers. The book is perfect for personal study, family devotions, churches, schools, Sunday School, cell groups, Black History month, universities, Bible colleges, and seminaries.
