Bridging the World

Nicely designed in a smallish (9.5x8") format, this book presents color photos, with descriptive text, depicting bridges found 'round the world. It's clearly a labor of love and will be of interest to a broad audience of travellers and enthusiasts as well as engineers. The photos are dramatic and well composed, and the brief text is knowledgable and personable. The book is organized by bridge type: beam, masonry arch, metal arch, concrete arch, suspension, cable-stayed, and moving bridges. In 1994 Robert Cortright published his collection of pictures in a book entitled Bridging. That was followed in 1998 with the publication of Bridging, Discovering the Beauty of Bridges.
