Philadelphia, Hogan & Thompson, 1850. 8vo. 178 pp. Foxing. Worn contemporary half morocco, gilt spine faded, marbled board papers. From the library of Nils S. von Koch at Augerum, with his pencil signum on the front paste down. Reprint, first published in 1833. The Constitution takes pp. 25-37, followed by explanations (pp. 37-165), followed by the ?Declaration of Independence? from 1776 and the ?Articles of Confederation? of 1788. James Bayard jr (1799-1880) was a lawyer from Wilmington, district attorney for Delaware in 1838 to 1843 and in 1851 elected US senator. A popular summary that has been published in several editions.Nils S. von Koch (1801-81) was an influential Swedish liberal jurist and politician.
