"An Introduction to Philosophy by a Leading Scholar for General Readers

""A Concise History of Chinese Philosophy"" is a seminal work on the history of Chinese philosophical thought by the Japanese philosopher Yoshio Tsuchida. The book provides a detailed introduction and analysis of Chinese philosophy in chronological order, spanning from the Yin-Zhou period through the Ming and Qing dynasties.

In addition to covering Confucianism and Song-Ming Neo-Confucianism, which are emphasized in general histories of Chinese philosophy, this work also offers insightful discussions on often overlooked intellectual traditions, such as the Jixia Academy and the classical scholarship of the Han Dynasty. By organizing the content around different schools of thought as its framework, the book presents a clear logical structure that helps readers grasp the evolution of ideas. It further offers original perspectives on the periodization and developmental trajectory of Chinese philosophy.
