Add to basketMillay, Edna St. Vincent. Make Bright the Arrows: 1940 Notebook. New York and London: Harper & Brothers, 1940. First edition, first printing ( K-P code, Printed from type, First Edition stated). A powerful call to conscience from Pulitzer Prize-winner Edna St. Vincent Millay, written as a direct response to the global threat of fascism and war. This copy bears provenance from the personal library of Robert Alan Green, a poet who studied with Robert Frost at Amherst College and later earned a law degree at Yale. In 1941, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Forces to negotiate war contracts just months after this book s publication. Whether Millay s words played a role in shaping that decision is unknown, but this volume surely stands as a poignant artifact from that pivotal moment in history. Bound in black cloth with red title panel. Dust jacket present and unclipped, with a small tear near the top edge and light wear to the bottom. Interior clean and unmarked. A strong and evocative copy of Millay s wartime masterwork, with meaningful historical provenance.
