In This Bright Future: A Novel Volume 5 (Paperback or Softback)

DC Smith must confront both a violent history and the ghosts of his own past in this atmospheric crime novel.

“The greatest fictional sleuth you've probably never heard of." ―Financial Teams

Recovering from knee surgery, DC Smith is prescribed two weeks of bed rest. There will be no chasing murderers through the streets of Kings Lake―just some relaxing music and a good book. He’s almost looking forward to it. That is, until there is a knock at the door. It’s only his next-door neighbor, but it is the beginning of an intricate case that will take Smith to Northern Ireland and three decades back in time to the darkest scenes of the detective’s past as a British intelligence officer during the Troubles. When old loyalties, buried secrets, and a complicated web of history and betrayal resurface, Smith is forced confront events he thought were long behind him. Told in pitch-perfect prose and featuring a cast of richly developed characters, In This Bright Future elegantly balances suspenseful mystery with compelling emotional stakes.
