On the Brink of Tears

Presumed dead, but far from gone—Harry Brigandshaw emerges from the depths of Africa, very much alive.

After being declared legally deceased for over two years, the war-scarred pilot emerges from the heart of the Belgian Congo with a body ravaged by tropical disease and a story few will believe. Cut off from civilisation after his seaplane crashed into a river, Harry endured as a prisoner of a Tutsi tribe while battling to keep his flight engineer alive.

Now, as he returns to a changed world gripped by economic depression, Harry discovers his shipping empire has been dismantled, his fortune seized for death duties, and his family scattered. With determination forged in the jungle and the wit that once made him a decorated RFC ace, Harry must reclaim his stolen legacy. His unexpected resurrection sends shockwaves through London society and the halls of power, threatening those who profited from his "death."

As war clouds gather once more over Europe, Harry faces his greatest battle yet—not just for his rightful inheritance, but for the family he left behind and a world teetering on the brink of catastrophe.

In this sweeping historical drama of resilience and redemption, the fifth in the Brigandshaw Chronicles, one man must navigate both his personal demons and a society unravelling beneath the weight of its past sins.
