Hardcover. Condition: Very good condition. First Edition. 252 pages of text. Maroon leather spine and corners, with marbled paper-covered boards. The spine is slightly darkened and rubbed. Top edge (of the closed pages covered in) gilt. Complete with 60 hand-colored ornithological plants. The text is slightly to moderately foxed, and there are a few small tears and chips to several page edges. While some plates are pristine, most of the plates have at least one or two spots of foxing in the image area, and some have a half dozen or in several cases more. Unfortunately, the rear boards and also the spine of vol 2 are extensively dampstained, affecting the colour of the cloth. Closed edges are untrimmed and lightly chipped. Small owner name to front endpapers, otherwise, apart from some light foxing throughout, contents are clean and tidy, all plates are present and in very good condition, beautifully hand painted.
