It includes substantial excerpts from major historical works, including the complete text of **Descartes’s *Meditations***, alongside a range of contemporary philosophical readings. Designed for students and general readers, each selection is accompanied by a helpful introduction explaining its historical context and argumentative structure, as well as detailed annotations clarifying difficult terminology, references, and forms of argument. Ideal for introductory philosophy courses, particularly those focused on **epistemology, metaphysics, and philosophy of religion**. Please note: this volume covers these three areas specifically. A separate complete edition of *The Broadview Introduction to Philosophy* also includes readings on ethics and social and political philosophy.
