Contents clean, crisp and unmarked. neat previous owner's signature at the top of the ffep.
"Sibbes whose works still retain their popularity, was for several years preacher to the learned society of Grays Inn, and subsequently Master of Katherine Hall, Cambridge. He attributed his conversion to Paul Baynes, to whose Commentary on Ephesians he wrote a preface. The influence of his name as a Theologian must have been very great, since so many treatises by contemporary authors were ushered into the world under the auspices of his prefatory commendations. Baxter acknowledges his conversion to have been chiefly owing to the perusal of Sibbes's 'Bruised Reed'. His death occurred in 1635, his thirty-fifth year." - Straker's Catalogue (1834?35).
