Item description from seller

A scarce pamphlet of the budget of the year 1815, written by one of the longest serving Chancellors of the Exchequer in the history of Britain. The Battle of Waterloo concluded the Napoleonic Wars in 1815; the year also saw the introduction of the Corn Laws. The first publication of the budget for the year, printed in the Pamphleteer.Written by Nicholas Vansittart, 1st Baron Bexley (1766-1851), an English politician who served as Chancellor of the Exchequer from 1812 to 1823. When he became Chancellor of the Exchequer, Britain was in a great deal of debt; he introduced a scheme to tackle the sinking fund. As time passed, he was increasingly unpopular, and eventually resigned his office in 1822.A fascinating economics pamphlet. Unbound. Firmly bound, with just a little edgewear. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed.
