Bug Log Kids: A Kid?s Journal to Record Their Bug Discoveries

Inspire a love of bugs with this guided journal that teaches children to observe, record, draw, and learn about insects and other creepy-crawly creatures.

Turn every backyard search, park visit, nature walk, camping trip, or bug-watching adventure into a discovery to remember. Bug Log Kids gives children a fun, easy way to notice bugs, write about what they see, and draw their discoveries.

Designed for ages 5 to 12, this guided logbook helps kids write about beetles, butterflies, ants, spiders, worms, dragonflies, moths, and more. Each log page includes simple prompts—such as where the bug was found, what it was doing, how many legs it had, whether it had wings or antennae, what sounds it made, and what its colors and markings were—plus room for drawing or adding a photo. Along the way, young bug lovers will also find fascinating facts, hands-on activities, and suggestions for protecting bugs and their habitats.

Perfect for family time, school nature studies, backyard exploring, vacations, and other screen-free outdoor fun, Bug Log Kids by DeAnna Ortiz Brandt and Daniel P. Brandt helps children slow down, look closely, and create a one-of-a-kind keepsake worth cherishing.

Inside you’ll find:
