A practical guide for busy trustees. Great reminders for experienced board members and an easy orientation for new board members. It provides effective strategies for improving the effectiveness of a board. The board is geared to volunteer service boards but is useful to anyone serving as a board member.
Carol has served on 21 boards and has been president of seven. She started her professional career as a social worker working with street gangs, the perfect background for working with boards. She found many of the gangs better organized and with more succesful fund raising programs (which she clearly doesn't recommend).
She then worked for many years as a medical social worker at St. Louis Children's Hospital and Children's Hospital National Medical Center.
Carol lives with Frank Robbins, her sweet long suffering husband of twenty-three years. They have two sons in college, Teddy (also known as Frank) at New York University and Jono at Alfred University.
When not traveling the world keynoting, facilitating and training, Carol serves on the board of Women's Self Help Center, is President of the Gateway Chapter of the National Speaker's Association and volunteers for the learning disabilities association.
