About the Authors

Claire Bampton studied English at the University of London before becoming a children’s book editor at Dorling Kindersley in 1991. In 1996 she moved to Bath and set up a book packaging business, Jester Books. Since 2003 she has worked as a writer and has had numerous books for children published on a variety of subjects, from ancient to natural history. Claire’s favorite pastimes include eating coconut ice cream, walking along Cornish beaches, and daydreaming—preferably all at the same time.

Claire Bampton is a natural history writer based in the West Country, UK. She lives with her children, her husband and their two cats and a deer that regularly visits their garden. She has a particular fascination for birds and loves to watch them fly, often thinking how nice it would be to join them one day herself.
