Just what I was looking for!

I was looking for teaching material on Christian character for children, and found this book by accident. It is exactly what I wanted. I like the Bible story and then the modern day application story. I also like the worksheets to support the concepts. It suits my Grade 1 and 2 students very well.

Ideal for my PreK-7th grade summer camp week!

This month is our 3rd summer camp using, "Building Christian Character." I love the format that first, uses a Bible story to teach a Christian principle, then second, uses a contemporary story to reinforce it! We use the former for read-aloud in the morning then the latter for "reading class" in the afternoon (beginning each discussion with the 5W's plus how) . The variety of activities offers the principle of the day on several levels, accommodating each age group of campers and adding a great "hands on" portion to the afternoon lesson and when they go to arts and crafts class. The activities also lend themselves to being "stretched" to draw the interest of the older children.I'm looking forward to "Building Christian Character II" with more Christian principles in the same great format!!! Revising the stories and activities for the principles in the existing "Building Christian Character" would be fantastic as well!!!
