Building Your Own Home

Thousands of families each year build a new house or bungalow, representing some 8 per cent of all new houses and the number continues to grow. Written by an acknowledged expert in the field, BUILDING YOUR OWN HOME is THE guide to doing it properly - whether you want to manage the job yourself and hire in the relevant subcontractors (a REAL self-builder) or whether you plan to find an architect or builder to deal with everything for you. Packed full of photographs, diagrams and plans, the book contains everything you need to know from finding and buying a plot of land to sorting out planning permission, financing the project and choosing the design. It also provides an insight into the costs and problems encountered by recent self-builders in a varied selection of case histories. BUILDING YOUR OWN HOME is a vital read for anyone considering a self-built home.
