The Building Resilient Faith: Helping Students Follow Jesus for Life

Every student in your youth ministry will eventually leave. Are they ready? The point of youth ministry is to prepare them for what comes next. Students need a safe environment to ask hard questions, connect theology to their everyday lives, and encounter Christ in meaningful ways. Building Resilient Faith is a guide for youth pastors and ministry leaders who want to help students develop a strong, enduring, Christ‑centered faith that can withstand doubt, cultural pressure, conflicting worldviews, emotional challenges, and life’s inevitable storms.

Resilient faith isn’t built accidentally—it requires intentional teaching, relational discipleship, and getting to know God personally. Blaylock offers a practical, deeply pastoral guide to forming disciples who can stand firm in a skeptical, anxious, and rapidly changing world.

Providing practical strategies for integrating Scripture, personal engagement, and spiritual formation into teaching, the book presents a unique and applicable vision for youth ministry that weaves together theology, apologetics, and discipleship. It encourages honest conversations about doubt, equipping leaders to walk alongside students as they wrestle with their faith, and is published in partnership with Rooted Ministry.

Bradley Blaylock, MA, MATS, PhD, is a Professor of Theological Studies at Highlands College in Birmingham, AL, and has previously served in youth ministry and adult education ministry.
