The journey starts with a description of the project requirements before moving on to designing and sketching an interface of what the website will look like. Then, gradually with each chapter, you will add a single functionality until the full ArcGIS application is completed.
By the end of this book, you will have built an entire ArcGIS web application from scratch. An additional bonus appendix is included on how to build ArcGIS applications with ArcGIS Online–a new and extremely useful service offered by Esri.

This book starts with a problem. A problem that you will be solving. A client hands your his requirements to build a web application with ArcGIS. With each chapter you will be implementing one functionality until you bring and complete the entire project and web site up and running in the last chapter.
All this is being done with the ArcGIS for Javascript API, not feeling like writing code? With each chapter I hand you the end result source code.I always say this. Short books are the most difficult to write. Indeed it is challenging to fit all advanced materials in a 100 page short book. We do discuss and implement at later chapters some intermediate topics such as relationship queries, highlighting the map. We have also dedicated the last chapter for editing web services and uploading attachments all within context of the Bestaurants application. Not advanced topics for sure but core concepts never the less that was the aim of the book.I tried my best that this book can give beginners in ArcGIS Javascript API the context to use this technology in real-life projects, instead of explaining random functions and methods out of context.I get some emails that ask me to do a part 2 of this book, and include some advanced topics, maybe once I finish my current book.
