DR. GOLDFARB is the father of markup languages, a term that he coined in 1970, and is the inventor of SGML, the International Standard on which both XML and HTML are based. He is the author of The SGML Handbook™ and co-author of The XML Handbook™ and The SGML Buyer's Guide™.
