Two issues. Quartos, 12.5 x 9.5", each 8 pp. Includes Number 25, February 1891, and Number 28, May 1891. Two issues of this scarce monthly periodical published at Atlanta University, the first HBCU in the American south. These issues include articles on the life and work of the school, information on school fundraising and finances, articles on African American education, letters from graduates teaching in the field, reminiscences of the early days of African American education immediately after the Civil War, a proposal for a new school "For the Home Education of Colored Women," and more. These issues bear the address label of American theologian Lyman Abbott. The periodical was published under this title from 1883 to 1910, before becoming "The Atlanta University Bulletin." OCLC shows scattered issues at ten institutions, most holding only a few early 20th century issues, with a more significant run held at the University of Rochester. Foxing, toning and creasing to paper, one issue more significantly creased.
